Dr. Patrick Tsai

Dr. Patrick Tsai is a board certified, fellowship trained glaucoma specialist providing specialized glaucoma treatments such as lasers and surgical procedures including selective laser trabeculoplasty, laser peripheral iridotomy, diode cycloablation, trabeculectomy, Seton/glaucoma drainage devices, and goniotomy.  There are just a few specialists like Dr. Tsai serving the population of southern Arizona.  He gets many patient referrals from primary care physicians, optometrists, anterior and posterior segment ophthalmologists and existing patients.

Dr. Patrick Tsai is also an extraordinary cataract surgeon, capable of handling the simple to most complex cataract surgery cases. He offers premium refractive intraocular lens implants to optimize the outcome.  Dr. Tsai is an associate professor in ophthalmology and was residency program director at the University of Arizona.  His talented skill set in helping preserve and restore vision to so many is much needed to make a positive difference in the world.  Furthermore, he has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades for his research, work, and teaching and has trained countless medical students and resident ophthalmologists

His passion in life is to provide eye care service to those in need.  Graduating from Stanford University, Dr. Tsai achieved postgraduate degrees from Washington University in St. Louis and Indiana University before completing a residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and a glaucoma fellowship at Indiana University.  He has 15 years of experience, has authored multiple articles and book chapters, and serves as a reviewer for various ophthalmology journals. He has been awarded the Best Surgical Instructor Award and Best Teaching Award from the University of Arizona Department of Ophthalmology.  Dr. Tsai is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is active with the Arizona and Tucson Ophthalmology Societies.
